With the release of 4th Edition Warhammer 40K, Games Workshop has made a concerted effort to encourage new players initiating themselves into the hobby of Table Top gaming. The Battle for Macragge boxed set, released in conjunction with the new Rule book, offers newcomers an easily approachable look into the game that has infected hundreds of thousands of people.

The Battle for Macragge boxed set comes with 2 small forces of easily assembled miniatures, detailed terrain to fill a small table, and a condensed easy to read rulebook. It also has all templates, rulers and dice needed to play the game.

So whats better than having a nice and easy, ready to go game of 40k? Having someone there to help you out and answer questions, while playing with fully painted and detailed forces! Area 52 runs demonstration games every Saturday and Sunday showing players how to go about playing a game of 40k, and explaining the rules mechanics. The best way to do that is with the new scenarios centred around the Ultramarines Space Marine Chapter, and the ferocious alien Tyranids at the centre of one of the 40k universe's most important wars, The Battle for Macragge!

The unstoppable horde of terrifying Tyranids has swept out of the void of space, and launched a consuming attack on the homeworld of The Ultramarines Space Marine Chapter, Macragge. Take one of the sides and battle for supremacy of this fortress planet, playing through the themed scenario's contained in the rule booklet. White Dwarf has been updating this game by releasing new scenarios on their fantastic Macragge website. As these are released, and the scope of the games expand, we will help introduce more complex elements of the game, such as extra special weapons, new and impressive unit types, and special rules. You need nothing to get started playing in the store, just show up on the day (Saturday's from 11am to 2pm and Sunday's from 12pm to 3pm) and speak to Mark or Simon, who will be happy to help you out.
